Screening

The school district or approved cooperative may adopt procedures consistent with requirements of 92 NAC 52-0006.03 to screen children under the age of three who have been referred to the services coordination agency.

A school district or approved cooperative may offer a screening when an infant or toddler is not suspected of having a developmental delay, does not have a diagnosed physical or mental condition, and was not screened prior to the EDN referral.

If the school district or approved cooperative proposes to conduct a screening of the child, it must notify the services coordinator who will:

  • Provide the parent notice of the school district’s or approved cooperative’s intent to screen the child to identify whether the child is suspected of having a disability and obtain parental consent pursuant to 480 NAC 1-003.17
  • Inform the parent that they may request a full evaluation at any time—before, during, or after the screening process. NOTE: Upon request for an evaluation, the services coordinator will provide written notice and obtain consent for the evaluation and child assessment.
