Services
must begin within five days of receiving parental consent.
A
family can decline some service(s) without jeopardizing
eligibility for other services.
Services
Coordination may or may not include educational services
to the family.
For example: A very low birthweight (VLBW) infant
may receive no intervention services because the focus
must first be on increasing weight to within acceptable
limits. Then, when that goal has been attained, intervention
services may be introduced to address the the ongoing
needs of the child and family.
