Seven Day Period

The community's services coordinator will contact the family by phone (or other means) to set up an initial meeting. This meeting must be held within seven calendar days from the referral to the services coordination agency (link opens a new window). The family may request a delay of the the seven day requirement.

The services coordinator contacts the family for these purposes:

  • to share information about the child and the System of Early Development Network services
  • to start to develop rapport with the family
  • to determine if the family is interested in proceeding with the process
  • to begin to identify with families their daily routines, activities, and supports
  • to gather information to address the family's concerns and questions about their child's health and development
  • for families to begin identifying their resources, priorities and concerns
  • to offer referrals for immediate needs
  • to begin the process of verification of disability for special education, for children not already in the special education program.
